SICILY KAWAII (tree), 2021

The pandemic brought me back to Sicily, to the places of my childhood. The photographic project SICILY KAWAII was born looking at the countryside, named “Sciara”,  of Marsala and Mazara del Vallo.

“Sciara” is a term of Arabic origin that means arid, sterile and it indicates a landscape of Mediterranean scrub with limestones rocks of the Pleistocene era. I interacted with it through site-specific interventions using candies of different shapes and colors.
